As if it wasn't all bad enough already ..

With only forty-eight hours to go its likely that at this time on Thursday we will begin to see the results start to trickle out for the 2021 Isle of Man General Election. Its been a long hard ride for many and good luck to all candidates as the campaign trail closes out. Whether its tears of joy (or tears of despair and frustration) we'll all be dealing with the election fallout on Friday - both the good and wanted and the bad and unwanted.

However we are sure that the last thing the sixty-five people seeking public office for the next five years really needed this week was a fake legal letter and Notice of Liability delivering to their private address informing them that they will be personally liable for half-a-million pounds when Professor Mickey Mouse PHD from the Manx Truth Commission comes a-knocking for them after the election should any further COVID-19 restrictions come in.

Public life and public scrutiny will be onerous enough for some as it is without having to worry about members of the Manx tinfoil hate [deliberate typo there] brigade serving them with bogus papers from a Kangaroo Court on top. The legal basis for the papers 'served' is equally spurious to say the least as we understand that only a practising IOM Advocate can serve any official legal notice in the Isle of Man. Not just the fantasy Lawyers for and on behalf of the Manx Truth Commission who presumably couldn't even find the right coloured wax crayon in the colouring box to sign any of the notices with.

So as the last full day of the 2021 campaign trail approaches we genuinely and sincerely want to say good luck to all. But sadly this sort of thing is exactly the sort of thing you have voluntarily signed up for should you be successful on Thursday. And as the pandemic fallout further unravels its unlikely to get much better either as various storms set in place by this current administration are firmly brewing away behind the scenes. Its becoming a mad mad world!
