To plagiarise Journey's 1981 18 x platinum single Don't Stop Believin': Just a small town girl. Living in a lonely world. She took a gravy train going nowhere. Yes there was absolutely no Glee involved this week when Invisible Ann Corlett, MHK for Douglas Central, finally let the cat out of the bag at the presumed start of her 2026 General Election campaign where she states a rather optimistic case for the fact that she has done absolutely nothing for four years because - its all Alf Cannan's fault!

Noting also the comments of Garff MHK Andrew Smith this week that social media is apparently not a safe platform for MHK's to use to engage with the public the writers of this blog elected to do a search on official content generated by Mrs Corlett to ascertain what the policy objectives and aspirations for this term of office have been. Sadly our best researchers we were unable to find anything outside of some withering comments about 20 being plenty in the streets surrounding the vicinity of her own home. Which as yet also appears to remain comprehensively undelivered. Therefore we naturally assume that this has all been Alf Cannan's fault as well. That pesky useless Chief Minister just gets everywhere stopping things from happening doesn't he?
The only conclusion that we can therefore arrive at from seldom seen Osama Bin Corlett's opening election gambit is that the recurrent theme of the 2026 election campaign from most of the current incumbents may well be: its not me guv. I took that £75,000 salary and that really great pension in good faith but it was Alf Cannan's fault that I've not actually done anything!
Unlike the previous administration, which at least had a global pandemic to blame for the fact that little happened for two years or more, its successors can't even blame that. They have mostly just been blatantly and functionally useless looking at the Island's finances completely unravel in front of their eyes whilst resolutely doing absolutely nothing of substance about any of it.
Has anyone in Douglas Central seen Osama Bin Corlett since September 2021?
Does anyone know what any of her policies or objectives actually were?
