The latest batch of two minutes with clips have gone up on Manx Radio's YouTube Channel this week and one of the more interesting ones (largely for all the wrong reasons) is the somewhat bumbling performance of existing Arbory, Castletown and Malew MHK, and Mad Magazines Alfred E Neuman lookalike, Mr Jason Moorhouse.
Through fluffing his lines at the very start to a visibly absentminded meander through the remaining two minutes twenty-five seconds you are left wondering what Mr Moorhouse really stands for other than frequently declaring that he believes that its all going to be about the strength of the economy - which in a post pandemic world may well prove to be one of the great undeliverables for the next government no matter how many candidates claim it as an aspiration. Suffice to say though that if the economy is strong the job of any MHK will be a hell of a lot easier so it probably should be the top of everyone's wish-list whether they follow through with sharing any actual ideas about how to make the economy stronger or not. In this instance Mr Moorhouse absolutely does not offer any suggestions at all as to how the economic utopia he describes might actually be achieved.
Manx Radio two minutes with Jason Moorhouse:
To summarise the key issues and objectives for Mr Moorhouse:
His main platform will be the strength of the economy
If the economy is strong we all benefit [fairly obvious really]
He also believes that more people will return to the IOM if this happens
And that we'll all feel better !!
He believes that he has been a good local community MHK
He was Chair of the Education Committee that sunk the badly drafted Education Bill
He is also on the Poverty Committee so can claim awareness of poverty in the IOM
And he wants to bring the Peggy back to Castletown!!
His key objectives centre around the economy, the biosphere & Manx heritage
All in all a largely uninspiring interview and list of objectives for the next five years. But as with all candidates we wish Mr Moorhouse well and we hope to see his manifesto in due course. Especially the bit that manages to tie the need for economic strength in with completing a five million pound white-elephant vanity project like the preservation and ultimate return to Castletown of the Peggy!
