Arbory, Castletown & Malew says come on down to Crowther!

Updated: Aug 3, 2021

We've said before that these Manx Radio two minutes with clips are good election content and we actively encourage anyone to spend two minutes of their time having a quick look when these are released. Today we are treated to two minutes with Rob Callister doppelganger and 2021 General Election candidate for Arbory, Castletown & Malew Mr Steve Crowther. For those who aren't familiar with Mr Crowther we should point out that five years ago he finished a very respectable 4th for Arbory, Castletown & Malew in the 2016 General Election collecting 950 votes. In fact at the last General Election Mr Crowther only received 22 less votes than outgoing MHK and perpetually bemused Malew village idiot Phil Gawne.

Manx Radio's two-minutes with Steve Crowther:

Experienced architect Mr Crowther who has recently developed a new eco-housing solution makes some very valid points on the airport IT park [or lack of it] and on housing, local infrastructure, and the environment. And despite the rather shifty Sid James grin at the start he comes across as a very credible and sincere candidate. But then again let's remember that credibility and sincerity hardly seem to matter when going up against political heavyweights such as the IOM Count Binface that is Ian Clanton HM Sole of Moraceae - who so far has said surprisingly little from the comfort of his undersea lair off the Scarlett coast.

Mr Crowther also covers the need for the Island to develop ethical income streams and makes several good points on the environment and the green agenda. Making us wonder why he isn't an official Isle of Man Green Party candidate (?) as he talks a lot of sense and clearly has considerable expertise in this area.

Elsewhere online it can be seen that Mr Crowther has extensive experience working on large transport infrastructure projects such as Hong Kong's Airport at Chek Lap Kok, and Bangkok's Underground and Skytrain systems. Although needless to say such expertise would be largely useless to IOM Government which seems to prefer having only Jim Henson's finest Muppets to oversee its major infrastructure projects.

All in all a good two minutes use of anyone's time and we hope that Mr Crowther finds that the price is right for him in September and look forward to reading his full manifesto in due course.
