Facebook soap box stamper declares for Douglas East

Taking a rather predictable approach by announcing it on the Isle of Man News and Politics Facebook Group rather than in the mainstream media we also today note the candidacy of regular Facebook soap box stamper Christine Urquhart for Douglas East.

Douglas East always draws a wide and interesting field and in 2021 its not failing to deliver in the diverse range of candidates either - from 'Lib Van' Michael Josem and his Alt-Right Think Tank of nonsense, to Jonny Joughin a man who is more status quo than Francis Rossi and Rick Parfitt glued together, the MLPs uber-sensible Joney Faragher, and now to Ms Urquhart with her persistent social media soap box leanings.

As we've already said in relation to Leo Cussons there's a real post pandemic vibe filtering through in relation to what some candidates seem to think the new normal will be for the people of the IOM and Independent Care Bear Ms Urquharts' list of policies doesn't fail to disappoint on the inclusive and caring side of things by encompassing:

  • Mental Health

  • Health Care

  • Social Care

  • Education

  • Employment

  • Affordable housing

  • Sexual and Domestic Violence [against clearly]

Given that Ms Urquhart seems to already spend a disproportionate amount of her free time posting about these subjects on Isle of Man News and Politics and other Facebook Groups we hazard a guess that its going to be fairly straightforward to predict what might come next but we wish her well in her campaign. Politics needs passionate people and we're sure some sort of functional manifesto may emerge from the rather hastily thrown together list of things that clearly get on her wick.

In her campaign announcement Ms Urquhart also ads a general shout out for any issues and concerns that anyone else wishes her to highlight - stating that she would be more than happy to listen and share concerns [but presumably only if they actually align with her main areas of interest/concern though].
